My mom and grandma used to bake treats like this moist cinnamon apple bread every fall. The sweet swirl of brown sugar apples inside and the crisp top with cinnamon glaze make it a family favorite that's easy to whip up and perfect for autumn.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Apple Mixture

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar tightly packed
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 chopped apples honey crisp or granny apple

Glaze

  • 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan.
    2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
    3. Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth in separate bowl. Add eggs one at a time.
    4. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients.
    5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and apples.
    6. Pour half the batter into the pan, top with half the apple mixture, and swirl lightly.
    7. Add the remaining batter and apple mixture, swirl again, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
    8. Bake for 45-55 minutes, cool, drizzle with glaze, and let cool before slicing.
