This dessert is so easy it practically makes itself! It’s a go-to recipe for me when I want something homemade but don’t have time to spare.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Pour the apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. If you like a little extra spice, sprinkle the cinnamon over the apples.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apple pie filling, making sure to cover it completely.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. If you’re adding nuts, sprinkle them over the top as well.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
