Ingredients

  • 6 Granny Smith apples cored and sliced into ¼” thick wedges
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp corn starch
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Butter an 8×8 baking dish or spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples with granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp of cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Stir until well combined, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, prepare the topping. Combine brown sugar, oats, flour, the remaining 1 tsp of cinnamon, salt, and diced cold butter. Use a pastry cutter, two forks, or your hands to cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  • Spread the topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish and gently pat it down.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
